Mid-term life drawing class update

Halfway through the semester I'm still glad I decided to take life drawing. I've enjoyed the class as much as I thought I would.  My camera charger cable is currently broken, and I had to use an old borrowed one- hopefully I can find a new charger and get better quality pictures up asap.

The topics covered in class have all aided my drawings and I love seeing the progression of my gestures. I'm trying to really focus on my lines recently, experimenting with different techniques and pencil grips all noticeably changes my line quality. I'm looking forward to the rest of the semester to see additional progress with line and form.

I'm not a big fan of working with the manikin anymore. I understand the importance, and it does help a lot, but the actual book instructions to apply the muscles are so difficult  to follow it makes things far more complicated than they should be. Not having the other muscles showing that surround the muscle you are about to apply gives no information to how the muscles relate to each other. It would be great if we had some kind of master-model to examine and check our model against while we worked.

Lost Sketchbook

I've officially lost my sketchbook after looking for it all of Sunday/Monday... until I get a new one I have to use tracing paper. Which actually scans quite nicely as I just found out.

Old

Found an oldie on my flash drive- done for a forum icon if I remember correctly

Shapes

I was just drawing up some perspective lines for a landscape/building. When I was rotating the canvas I happened to see some crazy shapes that made me think of all kinds of different things. I thought it was interesting so decided to post them.

Made during a half hour drawing demo over skype.

No class tomorrow!

Advisement day tomorrow, which means no classes. Good day for drawing! Here's a piece I primarily spent my time on experimenting with, then took to a more finalized concept in the end. Some things worked better than others. Makes me glad I'm getting the time to experiment with this stuff now rather than later.

Life Drawing

Heres a 30 second gesture that I liked, and a longer 20-25 minute study. Getting more comfortable drawing from life again, and I'm starting to want to do some longer drawings in class.

Manikin

Just fixed my camera today, that means pictures!

Building the manikin has been more entertaining than I had previously imagined. I was under the impression it was going to be far more tedious than it turned out to be. It really reminded me of following Lego kit instruction booklets, and who doesn't like Lego's? More muscle's later this week.

update

been working on a side project and a lot more traditional stuff lately, here's a quick doodle to tide my digital side over.
