Capturing likeness if such a strangely difficult thing to do, I feel comfortable doing so with value, but working with just line makes things much harder; I think I instinctively stylize line drawings to the point of losing some of the original likeness of the person.

I'm looking forward to changing my work schedule for next semester, I have work for the majority of the time open life drawing is happening, and hope to get in for the full time next semester.

Skulls, No Face

Some examples from our second assignment, still working with skulls. I've been experimenting with some different kinds of charcoal recently. I don't personally like to draw as loose as the 3/4th back view I did, and in doing so I got preoccupied with the way I was drawing and lost some proportions, but it was fun to do regardless.

Going to try to make the open life drawing sessions as often as possible this year- unfortunately they start during a shift at work, but hopefully I can get some time in afterwords. Some images of the first session.

I like spending longer times on the skulls, some images of our first longer assignment- 2 hours each.  

New Semester Start

New Semester.

So winter break is over- School time, and time for updates.

I'll be doing a lot of 3d this go around, will be adding class projects and such. I also spent a lot of winter break working with 3d, so i'll have personal project stuff coming up too. Just recently picked up a trial version of zbrush (I really really wish zsphere sketching was in it... the newest version's trial is only for windows; for now).

zbrush is awesome.
